On Ibiza, it pays to give the evening a little time. Not just when the sun touches the horizon, but before that: when the light softens, the first glasses appear on the tables and a short stop quite unexpectedly turns into a whole evening.

For an aperitif at sunset, this selection takes you to the island’s west coast: to Sant Antoni, Cap Negret and Cala Conta. Best known is the Sunset Strip along the Ses Variades promenade in Sant Antoni, where music and sunsets have belonged together for decades. For everything else you need to plan your trip – from beaches and towns to the best time to travel – visit the island’s official tourism portal, ibiza.travel. What actually makes an aperitif, we explain in “What Is an Aperitif?”

Which place suits you depends on more than the view. Do you just want a drink, dinner afterwards, or to start the evening with a DJ set? Our five addresses offer five different answers – in no particular order.

Good to know: most sunset bars on Ibiza are open from spring to October. Out of season, this guide is your blueprint for next summer.

Which sunset spot on Ibiza suits your evening?

This overview is based on the concepts and conditions published by the venues:

Your plan The right address What to look out for
Aperitif followed by dinner Hostal La Torre Table area and conditions for drinks-only orders
Drinks and street food without a regular table booking Kumharas Arrive early; groups enquire separately
Beach afternoon followed by a restaurant visit Sunset Cala Conta Tell the beach bar and the restaurant apart
An evening on the famous Sunset Strip Café del Mar Booking area and minimum spend
Sunset with DJ culture Café Mambo Season status, programme and clear view

Hostal La Torre: aperitif and dinner with a view from Cap Negret

Hostal La Torre sits on Cap Negret, just outside Sant Antoni, right on the rocky coast. A good choice if you want to combine the sea view with a longer restaurant visit. DJ sessions are part of the concept too.

Where you sit is key: according to the published FAQ, the outdoor tables are reserved for meals in summer. For drinks, there’s the cocktail bar and the covered or indoor terrace. In high season, a minimum spend may apply to table bookings after 6 pm.

It’s for you if you’re planning an aperitif followed by dinner and want to book your spot deliberately.

Check first: say when booking whether you want to eat or just have a drink, and ask about the table area, view and minimum spend.

Address: Cap Negret 25, Sant Antoni de Portmany

Kumharas: sundowner with music and street food

Kumharas combines cocktails, music and sunset with a food-truck concept – from tacos and burgers to sushi. The right place if your aperitif might spontaneously turn into something to eat.

For regular visits, the website mentions neither table bookings nor a minimum spend; groups have their own enquiry option. That makes Kumharas the most relaxed address in this selection.

It’s for you if you’re after an evening without a fixed plan – with drinks and easy food.

Check first: look up the current opening hours and come with a little time to spare. Without a booking there’s no guaranteed seat, so plan around the sunset time on the day of your visit.

Address: Carrer de Lugo 2, Sant Josep de sa Talaia

Sunset Cala Conta: from the beach to an aperitif with a sea view

If you want to round off a beach afternoon with an aperitif, Sunset Cala Conta is the place. It lies on the coast of the same name, also known as Cala Comte or Platges de Comte – with its coves and offshore islets, one of the island’s most beautiful sunset backdrops.

You may still know it by its former name, Sunset Ashram. Today it’s called Sunset Cala Conta and combines a beach bar and a restaurant: Mediterranean cuisine with sushi and Indian influences, plus cocktails and music.

It’s for you if you want to combine scenery, beach and aperitif – and perhaps have dinner too.

Check first: the website offers restaurant bookings. If you only want a drink, ask about the right area – a reserved sunset table just for cocktails isn’t guaranteed.

Address: Carretera de Cala Conta, s/n, Sant Josep de sa Talaia

On Ibiza, the evening doesn’t begin with the dark. It begins with the first glass in the last of the light.

Café del Mar: sunset with musical history

Café del Mar is one of the best-known addresses on Sant Antoni’s Sunset Strip. Since 1980, it has brought together music, food and the view of the sunset – an obvious starting point for getting to know this part of the island’s culture.

How Café del Mar turned the sunset into a musical ritual – and what it means for your own aperitif playlist – is the story of “The Sound of the Aperitif: How Ibiza Turned the Sunset into a Ritual”.

For planning, there’s more to it than the name: the official booking page distinguishes between several seating areas. The minimum spend per person is shown during booking, and a specific table isn’t guaranteed.

It’s for you if you want to experience the famous Sunset Strip and plan your evening in advance.

Check first: compare the areas, check the view and minimum spend of your booking, and read the cancellation terms before paying. The venue lists April to October as its regular season.

Address: Carrer de Vara de Rey 27, Sant Antoni de Portmany

Café Mambo: aperitif with DJ culture on the Sunset Strip

At Café Mambo, music shares the spotlight with the sunset. Opened in 1994, the venue is known for its DJ sets and its ties to the island’s club culture – the address for an evening where the line-up matters as much as the view.

Seasonal note: at the time of our research on 21 October 2026, the official website showed “Temporarily closed”. Check the reopening and available dates before you travel.

According to the booking terms, a minimum spend applies after 6 pm. Some tables in the cocktail bar area don’t have a clear view of the sunset, and a three-hour time limit applies in several areas.

It’s for you if you want to combine your aperitif with a lively musical evening.

Check first: choose by programme and seating area – and if the sunset is your main reason for going, pay particular attention to the view.

Address: Calle Vara de Rey 40, Sant Antoni de Portmany

When should you arrive for a sundowner on Ibiza?

It depends on the date: a fixed time like “7 pm” doesn’t work in every season. As a rule of thumb, aim to be there 45 to 60 minutes before sunset, if your booking allows. That leaves time to arrive, look at the menu and watch the light change.

For one evening, pick one place rather than heading to several sunset spots in a row. And plan your way back: for addresses outside the centre, a taxi or bus is the way to go – after an aperitif, nobody belongs behind the wheel.

How much does an aperitif cost in a sunset bar on Ibiza?

The price of a cocktail alone doesn’t tell you what your visit will cost. At booked terraces, the minimum spend per person is often what matters. That’s why we don’t give a flat figure – instead, ask before booking:

  • Does a minimum spend apply to my date and seating area?
  • Do food and drinks count towards it?
  • Is a prepayment required?
  • What cancellation terms and time limits apply?
  • Can I book for drinks only?

A touch of Ibiza for your aperitif at home

What can you take home from Ibiza? Perhaps the idea of shaping the transition into the evening more consciously: choosing the music, putting something small on the table and leaving time for the people sitting there with you. How to do it, we reveal in “Aperitif at Home: 7 Tips”.

Ibiza is also the home of LOLA Lime: Fresh + Sour, a little wild and always good for a surprise. As a spritz, it brings exactly that feeling into the glass – you’ll find the recipe in “Aperol Spritz Alternatives”. And whether Lime is really your type, “Which Aperitif Suits You?” will tell you.
